The beautiful Italian crossover soprano, Giorgia Fumanti, who calls Montreal home, has already toured with the great tenor José Carreras, sang the Canadian National Anthem at this year's NHL All-Star Game and is one of three artists featured in the PBS Special “Heavenly Voices”. Now, in a rare Canadian performance, she joins the North Bay Symphony in concert April 14.
Giorgia grew up in Aulla, a city north of Tuscany, but moved to Montreal in 2002. She recorded her latest album, “From My Heart” at London's Abbey Road Studios and at Wisseloord Studios in Holland. She has already been compared to artists such as Enya and Andrea Bocelli, but is quickly making her own musical path.
Earlier this month PBS stations across the U.S. began airing “Heavenly Voices”, a new HD-TV live concert event filmed on November 7, 2006 at the historic Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center in Miami, Florida.
Giorgia's long-time passions have always been music and helping others. She was recently the World Ambassador for the Cerebral Palsy Association of Quebec (L'Association de paralysie cerebrale du Quebec). Giorgia continues to do all that she can to inspire, assist and move people through her music and giving of her time.
Tickets for the April 14 concert are available at the Capitol Centre Box Office (474-4747) or on-line at www.capitolcentre.ca. www.giorgiafumanti.com
