Paul Heinrich, Hospital CEO, believes the Golden Heart Awards are good for hospital morale.
"I think the Golden Heart Award does a lot to build philanthropic culture but linked to recognition and reward," Heinrich said during a recent media conference.
"I think we all have to start walking the talk and making our workplaces enjoyable, safe and productive. I would say North Bay Regional Health Centre is leading the province in that respect."
The Golden Heart Award is given through the Grateful Family donation where a staff member, physician, volunteer or department is recognized by a patient or a family's patient.
Those honoured from the donation are recognized at staff meetings, on the hospital blog, and are awarded a golden heart badge for their name tag.
