NORTH BAY, Ont. — There's just one day to go in round-robin action at the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling Boost National 2022 at Memorial Gardens.
In men's play, there are two undefeated teams: Brad Gushue, who defeated Brendan Bottcher 5-3 on Thursday and Niklas Edin, who won 6-5 over Ross Whyte.
Seven other teams are 2-1 including Michael Brunner who lost 6-2 to Team Schwaller, Kevin Koe who defeated Joel Retornaz 5-2, Marco Hosli who topped Colton Flasch 7-4, Bottcher, Matt Dunstone who prevailed 7-3 over Bruce Mouat, Flasch and Corey Dropkin who blanked Reid Carruthers 7-0.
As well, Mike McEwan won his first game, 8-5 over Glenn Howard who dropped to 0-3.
On the women's side, there are four undefeated teams.
The list includes Silvana Tirinzoni who won 8-6 over Eun Ji Gim, Team Kaiser who defeated Tabitha Peterson 6-3, Kerri Einarson who outscored Hollie Duncan 9-6 and Satsuki Fujisawa who topped Krista McCarville 5-2.
Three teams are 2-1 and another six are 1-2.
The 2-1 teams include Kaitlyn Lawes who edged Anna Hasselborg 8-5, The Swedish skip dropped to 2-1. Other 2-1 teams include Isabella Wrana who defeated Eunjung Kim 9-3 and Rachel Homan who dropped Jennifer Jones 7-4.
Jones is now 1-2.
Chelsea Carey won her first game 8-7 over Daniela Jentsch.
There are four more draws Friday, including games at 8:30 a.m., noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The key matchups include Kaitlyn Lawes against Silvana Tirinzoni, Matt Dunstone against Reid Carruthers, Kerri Einarson in a battle of unbeatens plays Satsuki Fujisawa and Kevin Koe battles Mike McEwan.
