City police say a second credit card skimmer has been discovered, this time at the A&W restaurant on McKeown ave.
On Friday March 25th, A&W restaurant staff on McKeown Avenue began to experience issues with their drive-thru’s debit card machine. Credit and debit cards were sticking inside the machine. On Monday morning, staff discovered that the machine had a skimmer inside and immediately contacted police.
The North Bay Police Service has since seized the skimmer.
On its Twitter account police ask that you check your account if you used the drive-through debit machine and to contact police if you find suspicious activity.
Its also asking local businesses to check their machines.
The tampering is thought to have occurred some time on Friday March 25th.
Earlier this month a skimmer was found on a debit machine at Galaxy Cinemas in the North Bay Mall on Lakeshore Drive.

Police have not received any reports of compromised cards or accounts as a result of these tampered debit machines to date.
Typically, skimmers need to be removed from the debit machines in order to retrieve any data collected. It is unknown at this time if the fraudsters were able to remotely retrieve information from these tampered machines. Nor is it known at this time what information can be retrieved from these specific skimmers.
Business owners are asked to closely examine their debit machines. Sticking cards or blacked out screens may be signs of tampered machines. Should you find a skimmer inside your machine, contact the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 to report the fraud.
