Heritage Train and Carousel spokesman Bill White is disappointed.
"COVID-19 has thrown a very real monkey wrench into this summer's operating plans.," he wrote today. "The carousel horses are getting anxious to once more treat youngsters of all ages to some fun rides."
But this summer is different.
The Winter Wonderland creatures are getting ready to come out of hibernation once again but the planned "Wake up the horses" event this Saturday is on hold.
"Even the Hippocampus is wanting to slip from its wintery lair and greet our many riders," says White. "The trainsets are being inspected, polished and getting ready for riders. We may also have a food concession on site for ice cream, drinks and other treats. So what to do?"
The opening Mothers' Day Weekend is on hold and several other events have been cancelled or are on hold as well.
White says until direction comes from our municipal, provincial and federal government authorities the group's operating schedule is derailed.
He's not even sure if or when the popular attraction will be allowed to open this summer.
"We are asking the public to please understand and be patient," he advises.
As the situation changes, white promises to keep BayToday informed so families eager to ride, can get onboard.
