A mixture of North Bay Police officers and Nipissing Lakers Varsity Men’s Basketball players teamed up to play a charity basketball game against members of the Boys and Girls Trojans basketball teams at West Ferris Friday afternoon.

It’s the third time the City Police has jumped on the court to help raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

In all the school raised around $900.00 with the overall funds being split between the local Cancer Society and a student who is suffering from Cancer.

Lakers Varsity Men’s Coach Chris Cheng was thrilled to bring his players to the fun event.

“Any time the school can engage and help out their own community and help their own student body is unbelievable,” said Cheng.

“A function such as this creates not only awareness but a connection, and a connection to their own student population, the community and a connection with us, our Nipissing Men’s Basketball program.”
