Construction on North Bay bypass has started

Completion is expected by November

You might have noticed that there is a lot of activity along the Highway 11 bypass this week.

That's because construction has started on Highway 11 just south of the Seymour intersection from the Highway 11 and Highway 17 interchange southerly to the Highway 11 and Lakeshore Drive interchange.

The work includes re-paving of the northbound and southbound lanes, and all ramps and roadways around the interchanges, Lara Cantin, the Media Advisor for the Ministry of Transportation's Northeastern Region tells BayToday.

In addition, there will be culvert replacements.

Crossover detours are being built to eliminate traffic while replacements are put in and it will be single lane traffic while repairs are made.

The first stage of work involves switching southbound traffic onto a lane on the northbound section of highway.

Following this work, the northbound traffic will be diverted onto a lane on the southbound section of the highway.

Traffic access to ramps will be provided at both interchanges. On-site work began on June 5, and completion is expected by November.
