This was the scene at the North Bay Mall this afternoon after a couple of thunderstorms rolled by.

A flood outlook statement has been issued for urban creeks in North Bay, including Chippewa Creek, according to the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA).

“Periods of intense rainfall passed through the NBMCA watershed early this afternoon. Water levels on Chippewa Creek rose by 100 cm over a one-hour span,” stated David Ellingwood, NBMCA Flood Duty Officer. ”Forecasts indicate a potential for thunderstorms and additional rainfall through the end of Tuesday, June 27.”

Area residents are advised to stay away from the creeks during this time of high flows, monitor the conditions and take proper precautions. If you have a flood emergency, please contact your municipality. If you live in an unincorporated township, please contact the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – North Bay District.

This message will be in effect until Wednesday, June 28, at 4 p.m.
