Bell Canada Frigid Friday, February 21 will involve area schools taking part in fundraising and awareness walks.

The big night is Saturday, February 22, where around 200 walkers are expected to leave from Ecole Secondaire Algonquin and walk a 2, 5, or 10 K route, before ending up at the school for a fabulous chili dinner, sponsored by Cecil’s Brewhouse.

“This has been a difficult winter for the people we serve, even though it’s not been a typical Northern Winter," says Executive Director Dennis Chippa. “That makes the awareness of the walk just as important as the fundraising. For North Bay residents to be exposed to the weather and conditions, even for a short period of time, that those we serve feel for hours or days at a time, is crucial in understanding their needs. Understanding their needs helps give a voice to a population that doesn’t necessarily have one."
