Mathieu Mayotte says this is arguably the best time of year at Value Village.  That’s the Halloween season.

“This time of year we step away from our duties and just be in the Halloween section,” said Mayotte, the Store Manager at Value Village located on Lakeshore Drive.

“We even take the time to train our staff to be able to help build costumes. We get to help people build really neat costumes, you get to see people react to that and it is a really fun time.“

As for 2019 trends, he says clowns and princesses seem to be taking centre stage.

“The really, really big trends this year have been Pennywise, the scary clown dude from IT is huge this year,” he said.

“I would say there is always a really really good presence for the Disney Princesses so there has been some hype about Frozen costumes; new and old.”

Mayotte says customers have also been crawling into Value Village seeking spider costumes.

“It is a costume we do not normally have so a lot of times we have been trying to find accessories and things to make it work,” he said.

While every year is different, he says the traditional costumes still attract a lot of attention.

“A lot of the really classic stuff is always popular they just kind of update it with newer accessories,” he said.

“So things like Witches are always popular, Vampires are always popular. Era costumes are popular. People still like old disco clothes, 50s clothes or sometimes even the roaring 20s styles.

“That stuff is always popular and always maintains a high regard here.”

If you haven’t figured out what to wear on Halloween night, Mayotte says they still have a lot of costumes in stock at already reduced prices.

Whatever your costume dress for the weather.

Expect periods of rain changing to periods of snow or rain with winds becoming northeast 30 km/h and a high of just 2.
