Clean sweep as Team Tirinzoni claims Pinty's Boost National 2022

'It's been an amazing week. The crowds are always supporting all of the teams. Of course, the Canadians but good play by other teams like ours too. It's a nice city and we would love to come back.'

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Silvana Tirinzoni finished off a perfect week at the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling Boost National 2022 by winning the championship 6-3 over Kerri Einarson at Memorial Gardens in North Bay, Sunday.

Tirinzoni, now a three-time Grand Slam event winner never trailed. She scored two enders in the 1st and 3rd to be up 4-2 after three. She put it away with steals in the 5th and 6th.

Tirinzoni went 7-0 overall this week including 4-0 in the round robin plus three playoff wins.

She says that's a nice achievement. "That's true I forgot about that. We didn't lose this week or last week either so we like winning. We have a great record and we've lost only four games this season. It would be nice if can keep that going."

The Swiss skip says winning here means a lot.

"This is our first major. We have won the Tour Challenge and the Champions Cup but this is the first major and with a new team it's just amazing. I lost five teammates so I'm really happy we could win this one."

Tirinzoni says it was helpful to get off to a good start with two in the first end.

"We made mistakes too but they made more. Every time we were in trouble Alina Paetz throwing final stones made a great shot."

She says she loves curling here.

"It's been an amazing week. The crowds are always supporting all of the teams. Of course, the Canadians but good play by other teams like ours too. It's a nice city and we would love to come back."
