The City of North Bay is reminding North Bay residents that parking on residential streets is not permitted within 24 hours of a snowfall.
The major snowfall began last night, and when all things are done Environment Canada predicts snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm with peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour.
Environment Canada estimates the snowfall warning for the region will end by late morning or early afternoon.
"Our crews are actively monitoring the weather and are prepared to respond as conditions change," the City stated on social media. "We kindly remind residents that parking on residential streets is not permitted within 24 hours of a snowfall. This helps ensure that our snow removal crews can work efficiently and keep roads clear. Please drive safely and give our plows the space they need to do their important work."
This week the City started snow bank removal to clear banks from First and Second avenues between Cassells and Fisher Streets.
Starting Feb. 18, snow removal operations will shift to nighttime, with crews starting with banks on Main Street, between Judge Avenue and Murray Street, followed by Lakeshore Drive, between Main Street East and Charles Street.
"As always, these operations are weather-dependent. If we receive significant snowfall, our crews may need to shift their focus back to plowing to keep roads safe and passable. We will continue to provide updates as snow removal operations progress."
