In a titillating move, North Bay City Council passed a motion to suspend its own rules so that a matter could be dealt with immediately. The move required a two-thirds majority and passed unanimously.

The topic was an exemption of the adult entertainment parlour by-law, which currently permits adult entertainment shows only in licenced adult entertainment parlours or establishments.

The Capitol Centre is hosting Australia's Thunder from Down Under Outback Fantasy 2016 Tour March 29, 2017, but could not do so without the exemption.

The show, according to its dedicated Facebook page, is described as: "The PERFECT Girl's Night - Australia's HOTTEST Export – Thunder From Down Under - hits an intimate Vegas stage every night of the week showing off chiseled bodies, seductive dance routines, cheeky humour and boy-next-door charm that you won't be able to resist!"

Coun. Mike Anthony, who sits on the Capitol Centre’s Board of Directors, brought the motion forward to amend the by-law for a one-time exemption and says he sees value in helping the Capitol Centre put on a successful show.

"Never thought we'd hear the words 'Thunder from Down Under,' in a Council motion," said Anthony who also serves on the Capitol Centre's board, along with Mayor Al McDonald.

"They do need to sell every ticket they can. Our by-law from 1990, which talks about 'nudity and partial nudity,' made sense at the time, but I'm sure we've had a lot of antiquated by-laws that we've had to update," said Anthony who is calling for a review of the bylaw passed in the 1990's.

"You can go see a movie at Galaxy Cinemas like Magic Mike...this motion gives the Capitol Centre," their exemption to put on their show.

The by-law amendment will come before Council for a vote November 28.
