A committee looking into the site for a new arena to replace the old Sam Jacks arena in Ferris, is asking the private sector if any land suitable for building the structure is available.

The present recommendation is the Steve Omischl Sports Complex at the city's south end.

Now, in a Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI) the city is looking for a lot with a minimum of eight acres but preferable 14 acres and must be in the boundaries of North Bay.

The city is looking to see if some privately-owned land may provide a higher level of community benefit than potential city-owned sites.

Potential sellers have until 1 p.m. Wednesday April 25 to submit a proposal in to City Hall.
