A new collective agreement between the City of North Bay and the North Bay Professional Firefighters Association has been reached and unanimously approved by North Bay City Council.
The agreement will come into effect once it has been signed and covers the period from Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2025, confirms Gord Young, the City's Communications Officer.
North Bay Professional Firefighters Association, Local 284 members will receive a wage increase of 1.5 per cent for each year of the contract, with total compensation, including improvements to benefits, totalling 2.39 per cent for the first year of the contract, followed by 1.71 per cent in 2022, 1.53 per cent in 2023, 1.58 per cent in 2024 and 1.68 per cent in 2025.
Young advises, "These increases are subject to change due to wage parity with local police."
Deputy Mayor Tanya Vrebosch announced the new CBA following an in-camera session of Council, February 9, noting it had already been ratified by the union. Council's approval authorizes the Mayor and Clerk of The Corporation of the City of North Bay to sign and execute the agreement.
