Lifeguard positions are available to qualified applicants now.

The City of North Bay anticipates having all three guarded beaches running this year and will require around 12–15 staff to operate at full capacity and is now accepting applications for lifeguards and other summer employment positions (see post below).

In summer 2022, due to a lifeguard shortage, only Shabogesic Beach next to King's Landing on Lake Nipissing and Olmsted Beach in Armstrong Park on Trout Lake had lifeguards on duty. Birchaven Cove, near Olmsted Beach on Trout Lake went without lifeguards for the summer.

City of North Bay lifeguards generally begin their assignments a week or so before Canada Day and, with enough staff, the three beaches will be guarded seven days a week from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. until late August.
