The Annual Farquhar Chrysler Charity Golf Tournament raised an inspiring $25,000 this year, for the Labour and Delivery Unit at the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC).
This year’s proceeds will fully fund the cost of a Fetal Monitor for the Labour and Delivery Unit.
“The monitor includes a wealth of technical advances in monitoring, measurement, and transducer technology that allow mothers to move about during labour during routine and high-risk deliveries. And with Smart Pulse technology, we can differentiate between maternal pulse and fetal heart rate without the need of additional equipment like maternal pulse monitoring using a probe on the finger or an ECG,” says Kim Carter, Manager, Women & Children.
The tournament took place on June 27 at Osprey Links Golf Course.
Dennis Murphy is the event organizer.
He says his family has a personal connection to the cause.
“The hospital was there for us when Caitlyn was a baby and our experience at that time inspired us to give back to the NICU, a local cause that is important to us,” said Murphy.
“We thank the individuals and businesses in North Bay that support us every year so we can continue our ongoing support of children and babies.”
Ryan Farquhar, the dealership owner, says the Farquhar Chrysler Family understands the importance of our hospital and funding medical equipment, which is not paid for by the province.
“At some point, we all will need our hospital," he said. Last year 768 babies were born at our hospital. We are honoured to be a part of ensuring the best possible equipment is available to care for mothers and their babies.”
“Dennis Murphy, his family, and the Farquhar Chrysler Family make this golf tournament a success every year. Their passion and dedication inspired the donor’s matching gift and year after year, his loyal sponsors and participants come out in full force to support our tiny patients and their families,” stated Tammy Morison, President and CEO of the NBRHC Foundation in a release.
Organizers say that since 2014, the Farquhar Chrysler Charity Golf Tournament has helped raised more than $200,000 supporting our youngest patients.
