It has not been a great start to the year for Laurentian Ski Hill.
The mild temperatures did not permit the ski hill to open during the Christmas holidays and mechanical issues forced the hill to postpone a corporate ski function on the weekend at the North Bay Ski Hill.
"Due to unforeseen mechanical maintenance, our quad lift will not be running this weekend," the Ski Hill posted via social media.
Officials say the beginner carpet and handle tow is still operating however, the mechanical issue will also force the hill to push back its 9-week camp.
"The Canor corporate event scheduled for Saturday, January 14th will also be postponed, with a new date to be determined," the Hill stated.
"We understand how disappointing this news is, and sincerely apologize to the community. We appreciate all of your patience and support through this difficult season."
Laurentian Ski Hill is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so officials have not stated when the chairlift will be up and running.
The Hill did have some good news late in 2022, when the Ski Hill received its seven new snowmaking guns.
