The Canadian Forces Base 22 Wing Band is supporting arts programming for local children by donating the entire net proceeds of its concert this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to the Capitol Centre.

A unique one-day Children’s Festival will be held next June.

Preliminary plans for the funding include booking an exciting Canadian talent to open the festival, and a day of magic and enchantment as local crafters provide workshops allowing children to learn how to dance, paint, make stain glass windows and summer birdhouses.

"There will also be an exhilarating workshop to teach children how to write a song or develop a storyline where writing one’s own novella takes centre stage," says Marketing Manager Kate Ricci.

This year, the celebrated concert band is performing The Best of Broadway and the Movies, including notorious notes from James Bond, The Lion King and Phantom of the Opera, among a long list of others.

Formed in 1990, the band was catalyzed by the concept of supporting military ceremonial functions. Today, the main concert band consists of approximately 60 personnel who, with the exception of the Band Director, are volunteer musicians from all walks of life, both military and civilian.

For over 25 years now, the talented 16 Piece Stage Ensemble, Jazz Quartet and Sax Quartet contingent have volunteered their time to create a magical evening of music for North Bay to enjoy and this year is sure to be their best production yet.

Ticket prices are $25 for regular admission, but seniors over the age of 65 can see the show for $20, while students under the age of 19 can get in for just $10.

To help support the only professional performing arts theatre north of Toronto and South of Thunder Bay while enjoying the masterful sounds of North Bay’s finest musicians, you can purchase your tickets at the Capitol Centre Box Office located at 150 Main Street East, open Mondays-Fridays from 10am to 5pm and Saturdays from 12pm to 4pm (Closed Sundays) or call 705-474-4747.
