Single tickets for the centre’s 2006-07 season went on sale Monday morning. Prior to Monday, tickets were only available to series subscribers (people who purchased seats for five or more performances).
“Now you can buy one ticket, or five, ten, whatever you want,” Kools explained.
As soon as the single tickets went on sale, the Capitol Centre had no shortage of customers.
“This is one of the busiest single ticket days we have had,” Kools said.
“I’m so excited. It’s really gratifying to see.”
The single ticket day is the start of a month long preparation for the official start to the new season. On September 21st, the Centre will hold a launch party announcing the 19 acts for the new season, which will be followed by a free screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. More performances are expected to be announced throughout the year.
“There will also be free popcorn and balloons for the kids,” Kools said.
September 30th will mark the 20th anniversary’s opening performance with Queen: A night at the Opera.
“It’s not an opera, its not Queen, it’s a company called Classic Albums Live,” Kools explained.
“They recreate the actual album ‘A Night at the Opera’ note for note.”
Although Kools says there are many highlights of the season, she is particularly looking forward to the musical Hunchback of Notre Dame presented by Vox Lumiere.
“It’s theatre, it’s silent film, it’s very theatrical, very rock concert and it’s very cool,” Kools said explaining what to expect from the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
In addition to the 19 scheduled performances, the Capitol Centre will be home to shows by Alexis on Fire (September 14, 06), Darkest Side of the Moon (October 14, 06), and George Canyon (October 10, 06).
