The Capitol Centre launched the 20th Anniversary Season Wednesday evening with a dynamic Power Point presentation highlighting the season line up followed by a free screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
General Manager Dee Adrian says she is impressed with the support shown by the community and that early ticket sales reflect a solid season.
“Certainly right off the bat our single ticket day generated more revenue probably than we’ve had in many years.”
“when you look at the numbers over twenty thousand dollars and you look at some of the particular shows you can see that there is definite interest in the shows,” she says.
Adrian says she is pleased that people have taken advantage of the various means available to purchase tickets to see the great line up of entertainers that include the likes of Los Lobos, Jesse Cook, and Natalie McMaster.
“I’m just glad because the shows are so big this year, we have taken some of the most major performers that are out there and brought them here,” states Adrian.
“We have a big Hip Hop show from New York is coming in January , so the variety and diversity it’s so great and to see the numbers there I couldn’t be happier. We have to keep North Bay coming out to the shows because culture needs to be a part of everybody’s life.”
The next big event for the Capitol Centre outside of regular season is the annual Wine Gala fundraiser Saturday November 4th at 6:30 p.m. and Adrian says the tickets are moving quickly.
Adrian also pointed out that board recruitment is an ongoing issue for the centre and that there a positions currently available.
“it’s an ongoing thing because there is always succession planing, we have the add up on our marquee, and every time it’s up on our marquee we get another three or four resumes in,” she says.
“So if anyone is interested, do the community a favour and get involved in your Capitol Centre.”
