The North Bay Museum will present the “Canadian Federation of University Women North Bay” exhibit opening on October 13th in honour of the CFUW’s 80th anniversary.
The display will be open to the public at the North Bay Museum from October 14- December 3rd.
2021 marks the 80th anniversary of the North Bay Chapter of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW). This exhibit is composed of photos, news articles, member stories, and artifacts which communicate the history of the group over the past 80 years. The exhibit also highlights the development of early postsecondary education in North Bay.
"Our hope for this exhibit is that it will bring larger awareness of the important work of CFUW North Bay to the larger community," says curator Naomi Hehn "Through curating this display our staff and volunteers have become aware of all the important work the club has done to enrich local education and culture. Book sales and historic house tours have been held to raise money for scholarships which are provided for students at Canadore College, Nipissing University and girls graduating from local high schools. The club has supported local musical talent, literacy development, the North Bay Heritage Gardeners, various community fundraisers and much more."
