You'll get your chance during the 8th annual Armed Forces Day event June 13th.

Honourary Colonel of 21 Aerospace Control and Warning Squadron Harriet Madigan told CKAT it will be part of the static military displays.

“It’s a cockpit of a CF-18 and the kids are going to get a chance to get up close and personal, right in there and they can be a pilot for a minute or two. It's going to be awesome,” she says.

It's all happening at the North Bay Waterfront with a morning air demonstration and an evening twilight air demonstration. There will be food vendors, static displays and bands playing music.

The morning event will be 10:30 – 1:30 p.m. with the evening event between 6 – 8:30.

The RCAF selects a theme for each year for its CF-18 air demonstration team and this year it's the 60th Anniversary of NORAD.

Throughout the year, NORAD will hold several events aimed at highlighting the importance of honouring the past, guarding the present, and protecting the future.

Also appearing is the parachute team, the SkyHawks.

The group is Canada’s only military parachute demonstration team and for over 40 years, have represented Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces to over 75 million spectators worldwide under their signature Canadian flag parachutes.

"Bringing our parachutes in close proximity to build formations in the sky, the team puts on a spectacular show," according to their website. "Performing these aerobatic parachute formations requires a high level of skill and courage, and is known as Canopy Relative Work."
