A new Municipality of Callander sign has been installed at the entrance of town on the west side of Pinewood Park Drive, just past Cranberry Road. It’s been a long time coming, and this past February the municipality and staff were finalizing designs with TWG Communications, which oversaw the town’s logo and the fabrication of the sign.

“It’s great to finally see it,” said Mayor Robb Noon, adding that the new sign “is more in line with how we had envisioned it with TWG so many years ago” when work was underway on the municipal logo. He also noted that it’s nice to have the sign within the town limits, as the previous sign (still standing, plans are underway to remove it) was firmly planted in North Bay.
“It’s been a few years trying to get it into our municipality,” he said, and he’s glad that day has come. “I’m quite excited to see that, and we’re going to light it up still.”
Installed on Tuesday, there is still some work to be done on the landscaping, and within the next while lights will be installed for the nighttime visitors, and these will be powered by solar panels. Overall, the new sign—lights and all—cost $34,525.
