CALLANDER, Ont. — Callander is putting on a host of events to help residents celebrate Family Day in style. To keep you in the loop, Family Day rolls in on Monday, Feb. 20, and if you head to the Bill Barber Arena and the Callander Community Centre, you’ll be greeted with a day of food and fun.
At 8 a.m. the pancakes start hitting the plates, and for $10 you can dig in yourself. A kids' breakfast is $5 if those kids are under 12. The last of the batter hits the griddle just before 10:30 a.m. because when that bell rings, the famous pancake breakfast is over.
Family skating takes place from noon until 10 p.m., and there will be a concession stand for treats opening at 1 p.m.
The Callander Museum and One Kids Place are also getting involved with the action, offering activities and games from 9 a.m. until noon.
There will also be a free movie starting at 1 p.m., and if you donate to the food bank, they will return the favour with some popcorn. The title of the film remains to be announced, but odds are good it will be very family-friendly, given the day’s theme.
