Once again, it’s time to celebrate the cranberry, and Callander’s Cranberry Day accomplishes that in high style. So, save some room this Saturday, October 5th, to take a stroll down the ol’ Cranberry Trail. The forecast looks great for berry lovers, with a high of 16 degrees, light winds, with little chance of rain.

Fans of the cran’ can make your way to Callander’s Cranberry Trail, at the end of Cranberry Road, off Pinewood Park Drive. Parking is tight at the trail itself, so you may want to park at Centennial Park on Callander’s Main Street. There are free shuttle buses from there to the Cranberry Trail.

Also, let it be known the Cranberry Trail can be a challenge for some. It’s 2.4 kilometers, so you’re looking at a nearly 5-kilometer round trip. But organizers are operating a small fleet of golf carts to help move vendors, musicians, and community groups to their spots along the trail. For those who need assistance, they’ll be there to help.

Rest assured you will not be abandoned along the ol’ Cranberry Trail.

There are cranberries awaiting at the end of that trail, and you’re welcome to pick some as you dream of Thanksgiving dishes. There are also many vendors along the way, selling crafts, food, possibly preserves, so be sure to bring some cash, because along the Cranberry Trail, cash is still king. Not too many vendors can process plastic payment, especially in the heart of the woods.

Local musicians will also be upon the trail, so you’ll have some tunes to fuel your cranberry quest.

The free event begins at 10 a.m. this Saturday and runs until 3 p.m. Plenty of time to scratch that cranberry itch.
