Callander motorcyclist dies after collision with moose on Highway 11

The highway was closed for several hours but has since re-opened

OPP report that a Callander man died yesterday evening after a collision with a moose on Highway 11, just south of the Lakeshore Drive exit.

Darren Renaud, 54, of Callander was riding his motorcycle in southbound lanes when the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. 

Renauld was rushed to hospital and was pronounced deceased shortly afterwards.

The highway was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.

An OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator is assisting with this ongoing investigation.

Also at the scene was North Bay's Emergency Medical Services and the North Bay Fire Department.
