The Ontario Trillium Foundation is providing $123,400 for upgrades to the Callander Community Centre.

The funding is to be used for a new energy efficient furnace and light system, barrier-free washrooms a portable stage, a commercial-grade refrigerator and new flooring.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli made the announcement at the Centennial Park Grand Opening Celebrations in Callander Saturday morning.

The purpose of the upgrades is to improve accessibility as well as help in reducing energy costs.

The aim is to create a welcoming and inviting centre for people living in the community while at the same time minimizing the cost of operations with energy efficient equipment.

“The importance of our community centres should never be overlooked. It’s my hope these renovations will ensure continued use of this facility by Callander residents for many years to come.” said Fedeli.
