Update: cleared, Highway 17 partially shut down due to pair of accidents

Incident occurred around 5:30 p.m.

Update: scene is now cleared. witnesses report a pedestrian-transport collision.

A portion of Highway 17 westbound and its shoulder has been shut down in North Bay, west of Algonquin Ave, by a traffic accident.

Police have closed the westbound lane of Highway 17 toward Sudbury between the intersections of Algonquin Avenue and Gormanville Road.  

The accident occurred just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sources say the collision involved a pedestrian.

Meanwhile,  Ontario 511 says a collision on Highway 17 eastbound at Jocko Point Rd. Beaucage Twp. has closed one lane and the east shoulder.

That accident happened just after 6 p.m.
