Ashley Cerisano felt she had to do something following the tragic death last month of Gerry Ouellette and four of his six children.
Cerisano, whose mother Leslie is best friends with Ouellette's wife Nicky, has organized a benefit Jan. 17 at the Davedi Club as a fundraising event.
"It's her way of achieving some closure," said Leslie, who lives down the street from Nicky and her two children.
A number of bands and singers including the W.J. Fricker Band, The Rendells, Gary Davison and Brent Labrosse have already confirmed they'll perform.
Ashley will sing as well, backed up by school band, Leslie said.
"It will be a nice, fun evening."
Cerisano said Nicky, pictured above, and her children Taylor and Naomi are doing "really well" under the circumstances.
But while Gerry had life insurance, Nicky has yet to receive a settlement cheque since the matter is still tied up legally, Cerisano said.
"So it's important to raise money to help them pay the bills."
No advance tickets will be available, Cerisano said.
And anyone band or singer who'd like to perform at the benefit is asked to call Cerisano at 476-1281.
