Residents of North Bay, particularly ones living on the shore of Lake Nipissing can be prepared by filling some sandbags and dropping them in front of their break walls.
Bags and sand are available at the facility on Franklin St.
"Residents are able to go to the dispatch office and request up to 100 bags that they will need to fill on their own. We are not in a situation yet where we need to provide sand and bags at flood-prone locations such as Premier Road," said Communications Director Gord Young.".
Ice still covers much of the lake, limiting wave action, but winds will switch to the northwest Wednesday posing a potential threat to Nipissing shoreline properties and high water levels will increase the chance of ice building up onshore.
Weather for the next week calls for a mix of rain and snow. Another 20 mm of rain is forecast over the next five days.
Meanwhile, the Conservation Authority began installing logs in the Parks Creek backflood control dam Sunday to prevent rising water levels in Lake Nipissing from flooding the properties along Parks Creek in North Bay.
