Jordan Bloom scored twice as the North Bay Battalion bounced back from Thursday's shootout setback to the Soo with a 5-2 win over the Mississauga Steelheads Friday night at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga.
The Troops came out strong building a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Nikita Tarasevich at the 14-minute mark and only 54 seconds Anthony Romani netted his eighth of the campaign.
The Battalion built on that lead in the middle frame. Alexander Lukin netted his third of the season at 13:30 of the second period. Then less than three minutes later, Bloom netted his 14th of the season to give the Battalion a comfortable 4-0 lead after two periods of play.
Steelheads forward Luca DelBelBelluz spoiled Dom DiVincentiis' shutout bid with a power play tally just past the opening minute of play in the third.
Bloom fired home his second of the game and 15th of the season at 16:12 on a Battalion power play.
William Eggleton scored his first goal of the season in the final minute to round out the scoring.
DiVincentiis made 22 stops for the win while the Steelheads Ryerson Leenders had 29 saves in the loss.
The win improves the Troops record to 19-8-0-1 on the season.
The Troops are back in action Sunday afternoon when they host the Saginaw Spirit and underage sensation Michael Misa.
Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
