On Friday, November 6, at approximately 8 p.m., North Bay OPP received a call about a single all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident on the Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System (VMUTS) in Mattawan Township, north of Mattawa.
Police investigation revealed that the accident occurred when the operator lost control and the ATV, which rolled on top of the rider.
Michael Blake, 47, from Holland Landing, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner and an OPP Traffic Collision Investigator.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at a later date.
