Arthur "Punch" Thomas came through on his promise that "I will be around for 100 years."

That milestone was reached on March 1, 2019.

A 48-year employee and Telecommunications Operator for the CPR, Art is still proficient with the Morse Code and he has so many fond memories of working the wire reporting on some of the more famous events that took place over the years.

Arthur still has a great memory and recalls a lot of key parts of North Bay’s history.

One of his favourite memories is his delivering the telegram to news media in North Bay announcing the birth of the Dionne Quints.

His children all live in North Bay and he is a proud G.G. to his 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Art still enjoys getting out to Northgate Square for morning coffee and a visit with his friends.

He celebrated on his 100th special anniversary with family and friends at Boston Pizza where the entire restaurant sang him 'Happy Birthday."
