Organizers of the annual Community Christmas Day Dinner are already getting prepped for the big meal which is served at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on December 25.

Chairwoman Sylvia Antinozzi says the traditional meal has been around since 2007.

Their mission is to provide a warm, comfortable atmosphere for those who wish to share a Christmas meal.

Antinozzi believes most years the meal is their guests' only food source on Christmas day.

Last year they served 450 sit-down dinners and handed out 500 takeouts.

She believes this year's could be their biggest dinner yet.

"We're expecting a growth in numbers because everywhere else, like the Gathering Place and the North Bay Food Bank have seen their numbers increase, and the Gathering Place not being able to serve as many meals this year will probably send more people our way," said Antinozzi.

Antinozzi met with the media on Tuesday at the Davedi Club to signify their appreciation for the use of the Italian Club's kitchen to make hundreds of meals.

She says their volunteers and sponsors are key to making the dinner happen.

She credits the Rotary Club, Rebuilt Resources along with the Davedi Club as the key contributors.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the event can contact Jennifer Hamilton-McCharles at [email protected].
