Powassan area Wild West town TV series set getting rave reviews from actors
The fields of Powassan were transformed into a western 1900s town back in the spring and now the series “When Hope Calls” that was filmed in the area is ready to be released on the Hallmark Channel on August 30.
The set depicts the early 1900s town of Brookfield. Back in July, the media got a glimpse of the rustic "Wild West" town set, which built in only a few months literally in the middle of a secluded farm field in Powassan.

The wild west set has three locations including a ranch, an orphanage and the town of Brookfield itself.
“We are glad we had the time to do it because of the snowfall that we had this year. It was a little more than usual but we had about 1,000 carpenter days throughout the 12 weeks working on this, including a lot of northern Ontario carpenters who were trained by some experts in Toronto to build something like this,” stated David Anselmo, President of Hideaway Pictures.
“It was very cool to walk on the sets especially because these sets have been created for the show,” said actress Jaqueline Hudon on a When Hope Calls promo. Hudon plays Grace in the series.
Pascal Hutton, who plays Rosemary Coulter says she was blown away by the set of When Hope Calls.
“It is beautiful, they built their town from the ground up and they have got three kinds of main sets,” she said.
“It is amazing, they have done an amazing job.”
Ryan-James Hatanaka, who plays the role of Mountie Gabriel Kinslow, believes the real feel of the old fashioned town made it easier for him to get into character.
“It was unbelievable, you are immediately transported into this early 1900’s town, functional stores you can go in and just walk around so it really helps as an actor to build the universe for yourself.”
