Updated Accident on Lakeshore Drive

It sent a car driver to hospital with minor injuries.

A traffic accident at the corner of Lakeshore Drive and Birchs Road this morning, sent a female car driver to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say the collision occurred when a transport flatbed trailer turned right off Lakeshore onto Birchs striking the car which was travelling on Lakeshore.

The car suffered significant damage, while the transport received only damage to the front fender. (see photo gallery)

Traffic was reduced to one lane while police investigated.

The accident happened at 6:15 a.m. and Lakeshore is now back to normal traffic flow.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police issued a provincial offence notice for improper right turn to the 53-year old male driver of a flatbed transport truck who lives in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Québec.

While he was travelling in the centre lane towards downtown and in his attempt to make a right hand turn onto Birchs Road, the driver struck a car that was travelling in the same direction in the curb lane.

The 35-year old female driver of the car who lives in North Bay, was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
