Update: Accident closed Highway 17 west. No fatalities

A pickup truck was towing a boat which ended up in the middle of the lane of traffic

Update 2:30 p.m. Monday from OPP.

"On May 26, just after 8:00 P.M., members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a collision, involving two motor vehicles at Highway 17 and Yellek Trail, North Bay.

One vehicle was towing a boat and upon impact, launched the boat from the trailer, which came to rest on Highway 17 blocking the lanes.

District of Nipissing Paramedic Service attended the scene of the collision and the treated the injured occupants before transporting them to the local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway was closed in both directions for the investigation and the removal of the vehicles."

OPP says an accident west of North Bay last evening closed Highway 17 for almost five hours. 

The collision took place at 8:30 p.m. near the Arrowhead gas bar, near mile marker 1663, and involved two vehicles. Police confirm there were no fatalities, however, at least one person was taken to hospital.

A fiberglass boat, without its trailer, can be seen in the southbound lane, followed by a 60-foot skidmark on the highway. Two vehicles can be seen in a grassy area of the highway's shoulder, and the pickup is towing an empty trailer. (see photos below)

The boat is about 100 feet south of the intersection in the middle of the lane.
