Hit The Ice has approached Powassan about filming season seven at the Sportsplex in July.

The program sees dreams come true as the best young female Aboriginal hockey players from across Canada come together for a two-week NHL-like training camp.

Mayor Peter McIssac told CKAT that council has given him permission to start negotiating with the production crew.

"It will take about three weeks to wrap up all the production. We've only had initial discussions with the production crew but we think we can wrap this contract up fairly quickly.

The ice will have to be put back into the Sportsplex during the filming.

"They are going to be challenged by some fairly high-end coaches...one player from the Canadian women's hockey team and a former coach. We're very excited about this production coming to Powassan. It's great for the community and the entire area," added McIssac.

According to the website, the camp varies from physical training, on ice drills and different team building activities. The 20 prospects will experience the highs and lows of a professional calibre training camp.
