Blake Cerisano has started a new North Bay area business in hopes of filling a void for kids this summer.
Using the technology of FaceTime, he is offering local kids a chance to have a video chat with a superhero.
The idea came about earlier this spring when he found out about a little boy who was sad that no one showed up for his birthday party.
"He was devastated and did not understand that people did not maybe want to come due to COVID-19 and everything," Cerisano told CKAT.
But when Cerisano found out the boy was a huge Spider-Man fan, he realized he could maybe do something to help since he owns a movie-quality spiderman costume.
"I put the costume on and I gave her a FaceTime call and the little boy just lit up and he was starstruck and loved the fact that Spider-Man had called him for his birthday," recalls Cerisano.
"He enjoyed it some much and I felt so good doing it that I figured there may be a lot of other kids sitting at home like this little boy who can't see their friends on their birthdays or special events so I thought why not just keep doing this."
Now Cerisano is offering the service online through his Facebook page called All Smile Assemble.
Currently, he has a Spider-Man, Nathan Drake (Uncharted video game series), and is working on the finishing touches of a Darth Vader costume.
Cerisano is also offering voice calls as part of the unique new local entertainment service.
"I also decided to offer some voice-acted phone calls that are less about costumes and more about voices. I personally can do the voices of Scooby-Doo, The Joker and The Grinch," he says.
The cost is $5 for a voice call or $10 for a video call.
