A North Bay man has been fined $2,800 for possessing undersized walleye from Lake Nipissing.

Mitchell Busch pleaded guilty to illegally catching and retaining nine undersized walleye.

Court heard that on January 31, Busch was ice fishing on Lake Nipissing near Deep Water Point, when conservation officers contacted him.

Upon inspection, officers found nine undersized walleye hidden in Busch’s packsack. The fish were seized by the officers and forfeited to the Crown.

On Lake Nipissing, there is a minimum size limit for walleye for recreational anglers with a zero possession limit of walleye less than 46 cm (18 inches) in length.
