Officers from the North Bay Police Street Crime Unit arrested and charged two males and seized a large quantity of illegal drugs and cash on February 5, 2024, in connection with an ongoing investigation.
At around 2:45 p.m., members of the North Bay Police Street Crime Unit were conducting surveillance on a Metcalf Street residence as part of an ongoing drug investigation. At that time, officers observed a male exit a residence carrying a large backpack. This male then met with a second male and a hand-to-hand drug transaction was observed. Officers swept in and arrested both males, and they were transported to North Bay Police Service headquarters.
A subsequent search of the backpack revealed a large quantity of illegal drugs and Canadian currency.
The accused in this matter are:
Paul Michel Lacroix, male, age 40, of Sturgeon Falls who is charged with:
- Trafficking of a Schedule I Substance
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - five counts
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
James Allen Clinkard, male, age 37, of North Bay, who is charged with:
- Possession of a schedule I substance
- Fail to comply with probation
In total, the searches by police resulted in the seizure of:
- Approximately 360 grams of suspected Fentanyl
- Approximately 205 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine
- 33 suspected Clonazepam pills
- 22 suspected Percocet pills
- 81 suspected Hydromorph pills
- $11,500 in Canadian currency
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $142,438.
Both accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.
