LETTER: Shortage of local doctors hard to take

No replacement, no reason given. Heart crushing

To the editor:

Recently I read a story of Dr. Jim Vigars, battling cancer, although I wish him the best and a speedy recovery my concern is with the medical community coming to his aid.

Last week I received an email from my doctor announcing she is closing her office.

No members of the medical community are stepping in, not even Blue Sky. No replacement, no reason given. Heart crushing.

For myself it's not life-changing, I only need a prescription renewed now and then, but what of the hundreds of patients recovering from heart attack, stroke, joint replacements, diabetes, and a multitude of ailments that need to be monitored? They are now without a family doctor.

I hope someone in the medical community will step in to help all these people left to fight the good fight, now left on their own.

Long time North Bay resident, and at 64 years of age, without a doctor.
