LETTER: Problem is not the highways it's the drivers

To the editor

The issue on Highway 11/17 has to do with drivers not being responsible or allowing adequate time for travelling.

I have worked in northwest Ontario over many different stints during my career but in the last year and a half I have seen so many terrible drivers (straight stretch of highway they are in my lane oncoming).

Drivers think a 4-wheel drive can do anything.

On January 12th I left Terrace Bay to go to Thunder Bay and visibility sucked first thing in the morning and I stayed about 80km/h in a 90 zone; however, there were multiple vehicles that came from out of the blue behind me and just flew by making it even harder to see and more treacherous.

Perhaps every few years drivers need a refresher course on road safety. Remember it is not only yourself that wants to get to your final destination.
