Last time readers got a taste. This time they get the whole service. Second Saturday Stories thunders back this week with the entire first chapter of Gifted. This weeks chapter is titled The Bone Crib. The story starts with Harmon Bradly speaking to his last remaining son. The two share drinks in front of a blazing fire on Christmas Eve. Harmon's attention is focused on the mount of a white wolf, a trophy that's been the source of many nightmares and much torment to his son, Lucian.
The elderly man begins to recount the tale of how the wolf was hunted. Readers will be transported from the safety of the estate fire place to the frost covered mountains of Eastern Germany where a younger Harmon is guided through a bizarre village constructed of war machines and animal skins. He and his guide are led to a strange being that seems to change forms in the dancing fire light.
During their exchange Harmon finds a crib of bone, and with it terrifying request from the being beyond the fire light.
from that point on readers will learn the price of Harmon's greed, and the true horrors that wait for him in the Ore Mountains. If you were a fan of Tales from the Crypt Keeper growing up like I was, then you'll love this story.
