A vehicle, stolen from a North Bay driveway last year, has resulted in an arrest and the seizure of nearly $3,000 in illegal drugs.

On October 2, 2023, the North Bay Police Service was told a vehicle was stolen from the victim’s driveway overnight.

"The vehicle was later located in the 400-block of Main Street East with clear signs that it had been tampered with to start the vehicle without a key," says police spokesman David Woolley.

The Forensic Identification Unit found evidence in the vehicle linking the accused to the theft. The accused and victim are unknown to one another.

As part of the investigation, on November 20, 2024, police found the accused in the 100 block of Lakeshore Drive where he was arrested and charged. A search located illegal narcotics, leading to additional charges.

Police seized:

  • 24 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • 1.5 grams of Fentanyl
  • four suspected Percocet pills
  • Drug trafficking equipment
  • undisclosed amount of cash

The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $2,900.

Brian Lyle Paul, 54, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Two counts of failing to comply with a probation order
  • Failure to comply with a release order
  • Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Paul was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
