Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have determined the identity of the burned human remains discovered in McDougall Township, west of Burk's Falls.
On August 12 at 11 a.m., the West Parry Sound OPP responded to a human remains located in the Town of Parry Sound found on a property on Avro Arrow Road. The remains have been identified as a 56-year-old Markham woman, Yuk-Ying Anita Mui. reported missing to the York Regional Police on August 9.

On Friday, August 9, MUI was reported missing by family after they had not heard from her since 11 a.m. Her white 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 sport utility vehicle was located in the area of Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue, in Toronto.
On August 12, OPP officers reported that burned human remains were located in McDougall Township.
The Office of the Chief Coroner has positively identified the deceased as MUI.
Through investigation, it was learned that the suspects were in possession of property belonging to Mui. As a result, three youths have been charged.
Investigators believe this is a targeted incident. The investigation is ongoing.
"Based on all the evidence, the totality of the investigation, we believe she was murdered," Det. Sgt. Dave Gill said at a news conference on Thursday.
Police believe Mui went missing from an address in Stouffville, Ont., where she had been conducting a real estate transaction.
