REDBRIDGE, Ont. — The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police is continuing its investigation into Monday morning's fatal head-on motor vehicle collision on Highway 63 near Highway 533.

The collision involved a tanker truck travelling northeast toward Quebec and a passenger vehicle headed southwest.
The two occupants of the passenger vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene, and the driver of the tanker truck was uninjured.
Witnesses told BayToday a school bus headed toward North Bay was also in the vicinity of the collision but did not receive any damage.

Postmortem examinations are scheduled for January 16 in Sudbury. Identification efforts are ongoing for one of the victims. The OPP's Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team (TIME) is assisting with the investigation.
On January 13, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m., the North Bay OPP, District of Nipissing Emergency Medical Services, and the Phelps Fire Department responded. Police investigated as the highway remained closed for approximately seven hours on Monday.
