Callander and Powassan men face multiple drug charges after stopped for speeding

A search of the vehicle led to a seizure of approximately $66,000 worth of illicit drugs.

A significant amount of drugs and multiple charges were laid following a routine traffic stop on Highway 11 yesterday morning.

Officers conducting enforcement on Highway 11 in Perry Township stopped a vehicle for speeding and upon further investigation, the two occupants were arrested. A search of the vehicle led to a seizure of approximately $66,000 worth of illicit drugs.

Shane Moreau, 34, of Callander and Derrick Stone, 35, of Powassan, were charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine, Fentanyl, oxycodone, hydromorphone, morphine, hydromorphcontin, hydromorphone 4mg/1mg, methamphetamine

In addition, the driver of the vehicle, Shane Moreau was charged with nine offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound. 

The Almaguin Highlands OPP, with the assistance of the North Bay OPP Detachment and the Almaguin Highlands Community Street Crime Unit seized were involved in the investigation.
