Update
Premier Doug Ford announced this afternoon that hydro bills will move to off-peak rates for homeowners, small businesses and farmers for the next 45 days.
The move will cost over $160 million and will save consumers "more than 50 per cent compared to peak rates for the next 45 days," Ford told Ontarians.
Small businesses and farms will also be eligible. The off-peak rates will now be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Ford says the measure applies now.
"The savings will simply show up on your next bill," he said.
Ford also issued another warning to the province's construction industry. He said new rules are in place and inspectors will be watching.
"If the industry does not take every step necessary to look after their workers, I will shut it down," he told reporters.
Ford said Home Depot Canada has donated 20,000 N-95 masks. He said the masks are being shipped today.
